Getting Started in Trading

·

On this page I offer tips and information for a successful start in trading. The first experiences in the markets are different for everyone.

First decide which goals you want to achieve with trading. Then learn to decide whether you are better off betting on commodities, futures, stocks, indices, or matching derivatives. Charts offer many ways of interpretation. It matters to me to show you the following: it is not about being right with a decision. What matters more is to take only a defined loss. That way you keep capital for the next trading decision.

Learn on your own or get coached?

I built up my own experience mostly from books and webinars. Constant contact with other traders is important too. It often gives you a different perspective on the situation.

The offering in this area is almost unmanageable and ranges from free to several thousand euros. As varied as the strategies and derivatives are, so are the options for further education. There is no system that works 100% when transferred from one person to another. And not all systems work in all market phases.

On top of that come the different time horizons. For example, one trader wants to sell stocks according to his strategy, and another wants to get in at exactly that price. Only in such a situation does a trade happen, and the price is quoted at that level accordingly. Then an exciting question arises: who is doing exactly the opposite, at exactly this moment, of what you yourself think is right? In my eyes, this enormous range of possibilities is what makes trading so fascinating.
